Originally from Newfoundland, Stephen is the Artistic Director of Rumble Theatre and is the newly-appointed Associate Artistic Director at the Arts Club Theatre Company. He trained at Memorial University (BFA in Acting) and UBC (MFA in Directing) and directs and teaches theatre in British Columbia and across Canada. For Rumble he has directed Penelope, Indian Arm, Cock, and The Society for the Destitute Presents Titus Bouffonius. At the Arts Club he has directed Hand to God, The Patron Saint of Stanley Park, and Skydive. Projects elsewhere have included The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, The Bond, Hamlet, Richard III, “Art”, The Pillowman and Mary’s Wedding. He has taught and directed at Memorial University, Douglas College, Neptune Theatre School, and UBC where, as an adjunct professor, he teaches Shakespeare Text Analysis and Performance. For Theatre BC he has taught workshops and adjudicated zone festivals. He lives in North Vancouver with his wife, Sasa, and their son, Jack.
